Mother/Daughter Class: A Unique Opportunity To Talk About a Tough Issue
Mother/Daughter Class
A special class regularly offered by the Chimera Self-Defense program is the Mothers/Daughter class. The class teaches a similar curriculum as our regular classes, but invites mothers and daughters to attend together, providing an opportunity to share the experience and talk about the difficult issue of sexual assault.

"It's a way to open communication between mother and daughter and open dialogue on this topic. Since moms and daughters are learning the information at the same time, you can share the experience and learn together," said one mom.

The Chimera Mother/Daughter class offers an opportunity to connect with other moms to counter some of the resistance and negativity inherent in parenting an adolescent while also providing reinforcement from other adults about the issues of safety, empowerment, protective skills, and healthy boundaries.

If you would like to set up a private mother/daughter self-defense class or another class, please contact the Rape Crisis Center at 251-5126.
